Samsung Galaxy K Zoom lands for P24,990

IMG_9465

It’s not the Galaxy S5 Zoom. It seems as if Samsung doesn’t want to pollute the name of their flagship smartphone. And so they called the successor to the Galaxy S4 Zoom the Galaxy K Zoom.

The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom follows the same principle as its predecessor. It’s a smartphone with a bulging camera sensor at the back, which makes it a viable replacement for point-and-shoots. It sports a 20.7MP BSI CMOS sensor with Xenon flash, optical image stabilization (OIS) and, as you would expect, a 10X optical zoom. The Korean manufacturer has managed to cram all that in a 16.6mm body.

The K Zoom’s camera can now do focus (AF) and exposure (AE) separation, a feature that allows its user to focus and expose an image on different subjects. There’s also a Pro Suggest mode which offers different live ‘films’ which are quite like photo filters.

Some of the features from the Galaxy S5 also made their way to the K Zoom. Among those is the S Health Lite application for fitness and health tracking and the Ultra Power Saving Mode which lets you get the most out of your remaining battery juice.

The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom with LTE capability is already available in the Philippines for P24,990.

Camera360 adds support for Sony QX10/QX100 in latest update

Camera360 Sony QX100 QX10

Got one of those new attachable Sony QX10/QX100 camera lens? If you think that the first-party Play Memories app is a little lacking in features, well check this out. The makers of Camera360 recently added support for the QX10 and QX100 in their newest update last October 15.

With the new update, QX10 and QX100 users can now take advantage of Camera360’s live imaging filters such as Magic Skin, Enhance, Lomo, HDR, Retro, Black and White, Ghost and more. It also adds fill-in light feature to self-shoot mode to enhance portrait photos. Pairing Camera360 with Sony QX10 and QX100 only takes a couple of taps within the app.

You can get the updated Camera360 app on the Google Play Store. As of now, there is no support just yet for the iOS and Windows Phone versions of the app.

Hands-on with the upcoming Samsung GALAXY Camera

Samsung also launched the Samsung GALAXY Camera last night and I had a chance to try it out real quick, as in super quick!

The Samsung GALAXY Camera is an Android-powered digital compact camera that boasts of a 16 Megapixels BSI CMOS sensor with a 21x optical zoom. It makes capturing photos easy with the Smart Pro feature that lets anyone choose pre-defined modes or scenes without the need to change the settings. What’s more is that it runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean complete with the Google Play Store access and other Android features. It has a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD screen for your viewing pleasure, runs on a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, and to top it, a 3G/4G/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity! Yes, you can send text messages directly from your camera. How about taking a food shot and upload it straight to your Instagram account on 3G?

Speaking about the camera, it really is not just a joke. It looks real and serious. I mean, Samsung did not just slapped a 16 Megapixels camera on an Android device, it looks more of a digital compact camera that runs Android. It’s hard to explain. I only had a few minutes with the device just enough for taking photos of it and some quick tour of the interface. So, I think, you should enjoy more photos below while I wait and try to get a review unit. It’s hard to speak for a device that you haven’t tested.

Anyway, the Samsung GALAXY Camera will be available in the Philippines starting November, just a few weeks away, with a price tag of P23,990.

A Wi-Fi Enabled Camera? Meet the Samsung WB150F Long Zoom Camera

Samsung Philippines announced the launch of the Wi-Fi enabled long zoom camera, the WB150F, which was just announced last January at CES 2012. The Samsung WB150F enhances the advanced optical zoom and image quality that the WB range is known for, with Wi-Fi capability to facilitate sharing and saving of images – wherever you are in the world. Housed in a compact, light and durable body, the new zoom camera from Samsung makes the perfect travel companion.

Featuring the Smart Wi-Fi technology, users won't have to look for confusing cables just to transfer their photos. Imagine taking a photo at a local Starbucks shop and uploading it easily to your Facebook and account without even having to open your computer!

This camera also have 18x optical super zoom that will make capturing small objects super easy, without sacrificing the very good details that usually happens on cameras which uses digital zoom. Plus, the WB150F is equipped with a 14.2 Megapixels resolution that in turn, you may view on it's 3-inch LCD display.

“Sharing photographs taken with friends and family is one of the most enjoyable aspects of travelling. It’s about more than simply capturing memories – it’s an integral part of the experience itself. Listening to our customers, we understood that being able to conserve memory by sharing images instantly was what was missing from the high-quality cameras that they trust. With this in mind, we added ground-breaking Wi-Fi functions to our travel zoom camera, building on the brilliant image quality that high-quality sensors and zoom lenses provide - now with the ability to store and share like never before.”, Mr. Ariel T. Arias, Business Unit Head of the Audio-Visual Group said.

Shoot Unforgettable Moments in HD
The WB150F is also capable of shooting 720p HD video in 30 frames per second. You can always capture the great moments happening and share them with other people, for example, on YouTube.

Make Everyone Else Freeze While You Dance
This is possible with the help of Samsung's Motion Photo. With Motion Photo, you can make one element of your photograph move while leaving the rest still. Sounds like you're in a Hollywood movie? Yes?

Create a Triplets of Yourself
The Samsung WB150F also features Split Shot. The Split Shot simply slits the viewfinder into 3 shots, which you can then combine later. Imagine taking a photo of yourself or anyone 3 times, the result? An instant triplets.

Don't Leave Others in the Photo
With the Live Panorama feature, you can take wide panoramic photos, be it your large group of friends or an amazing landscape view. Simply hold down the shutter button and sweep the camera sideways, you may then view the result in it's 3-inch screen.

Take Advantage of Your Skills
Take it to the next level! The WB150F allows you to experiment with the settings with the Full Manual Control, also taking advantage of the OIS (whatever that means, just kidding).

Click the photos to view in full resolution.

That's a lot of features, right? But hey, you don't need to shell out a huge pile of money to get the Samsung WB150F. This only costs P11,990! How amazing!
